Chili would sometimes spend an entire season playing with just 1 or 2 colours, He said he was in a bit of a "purple phase" when he decided to paint this piece after a fun-but-stormy day skiing on Whistler Mountain. The tile is believed to be related to a phase of his career where sales were picking up and he was moving away from the years of life as a "staving artist."
