As Above, So Below
Before focusing on art full time, Chili spent many years as a sea kayak guide on the West Coast of BC watching some of the most beautiful sunsets he'd ever seen. Chili painted this piece as a tribute to that time spent on the Coast, as well as to his belief that everything in the universe follows similar patterns. Notice the subtle repetition in the forms in the piece.

Chili Thom was one of Canada’s preeminent landscape painters, with over 400 original pieces hanging in collections around the globe. Until his untimely death from cancer in 2016 at age 40, Chili lived in British Columbia’s Coast Mountains and pulled artistic inspiration from his time spent exploring the mountains, forests, and coastline of his home.
